DS-088 The Traveller Notebook Cover Digital Pattern

The Traveler is a PDF leather pattern to create a notebook cover that fits two 5.5 by 3.5 inches Field Notes notebooks OR two Moleskine 9cm by 14cm Cahier Journals. This is a beginner skill level leather template that is a stitch-less pattern and features a pen holder again made of leather.

The Traveller Notebook Cover is what is known as Midori style notebook and is a simple leather cover with an elastic band that holds the notebooks inside and that keeps the cover closed. No stitching or gluing is required and the notebooks are replaced in a matter of seconds. Simplicity is in focus in this everlasting design with the option to also make a pen holder weaved into the elastic band. You can also offer only the cover to your customers without the pen holder which makes the build much quicker. Combining the leather used and the elastic band color would be key in this build, but I have seen also creatively tooled and stamped covers that elevate such designs to the next level.

Skill level: Beginner
Leather:
> 1.8-2.2mm thickness (4.5-5.5oz), medium to stiff temper for the cover
> 1.6-1.8mm thickness (3.5-4oz), medium to stiff temper for the pen holder

Pattern specific tools/materials:
>> 1mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm hole punches
>> 90cm (35 inches) of round 2-3mm thick elastic band (1/16 - 3/32 inches diameter). Note: some of those 90cm will be excess that we will cut off at the end.

Basic Instructions
> Print pattern at 100% scale and verify size using the Print Accuracy Test.
> Measure and cut on outside edge of the lines.
> Review the Assembly Instructions PDF in full before commencing with the build.
