DS-082 The Galley Wallet Digital Pattern

The Galley leather wallet pattern is a pdf downloadable leather crafting pattern to create a long wallet with five or seven card slots, one zipper coin compartment and two banknotes/receipts compartments. It is an Intermediate skill level wallet template that is easier to build than the usual long wallet designs since it does not include T-shaped card pockets that require skiving or sewing at their bottom edges. The leather pattern includes step-by-step assembly instructions with pictures to guide you through the build. Using the same pattern you can also make few variations of the Galley wallet - you can skip the cards pocket that is on top of the coin pocket or the closure strap for couple of simpler versions. Or you can make a slick, lean zipper wallet by making the Coin Pocket with the two card pockets on it as a stand-alone piece to be carried in a purse or by itself while running a quick errand.

THE GALLEY WALLET

Dimensions: 20/10.5cm (~7.9/4.1 inches)
Capacity: 5 or 7 card slots, one zipper coin compartment and two bills/receipts compartments.

Pattern specific tools/materials:
> 1 x closed-end zipper 18cm long (7 inches) with 5mm wide teeth
(#5 all-purpose zipper as they are referred to)
> 1 x snap button
> 4mm hole punch

Skill level: Intermediate
Recommended Leather:
> 1.0-1.2mm thickness (2.5-3oz), for the interior
> 1.4-1.6mm thickness (3.5-4.0oz), medium to stiff temper for the exterior and closure strap

Note: stitching holes in the pattern are 4mm from the edge and spaced at 3.85mm, however illustrative in nature. You can use other spacing based on your pricking irons or stitching chisels, or aesthetic preferences.
> Always print at 100% scale for the pattern to work correctly. Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.
